Selmer Paris made one of the finest trumpets money could buy (and one of the most expensive). From the iconic “C” Shaped pinky hook to the art-deco valve block, these horns had style like no other. Selmer starting making trumpets in 1932 after acquiring the Millereau Paris factory. Their early designs included the Grand Prix model (similar to an F. Besson) and the balanced model made famous by Louis Armstrong.
These trumpets are a product of their time, and have a tone that is incredibly rich and powerful. They are excellent for both French etude practice and for jazz, as the tone is incredibly rich and very unique compared to a lot of modern trumpet designs. The instrument itself features some great art-deco inspired ferrules and braces, which really set this instrument apart.
Condition is good for its age. The engraving is visible. This is a Grand Prix model 23, with a .456″ bore, which was preferred by French soloists of the time. The pistons are in excellent condition for the age of the instrument.
